Three ethnographic parks, audio guides in English, the opportunity to hire a guide, to participate in educational activities on Polish folk culture, and co-create international events at the museum. Get to know the Ethnographic Museum better!
About us
The main seat of the Ethnographic Museum is located in the centre of the city, in the neighbourhood of the historical Old Town. It holds permanent and temporary exhibitions from a wide collection of over 72 thousands artefacts from all over Poland. Also our three Ethnographic Parks with valuable monuments of rural architecture are available for the museum visitors: Ethnographic Park in Toruń (Wały gen. Sikorskiego 19, Toruń), Olender Ethnographic Park in Wielka Nieszawka (Mennonitów 14, Wielka Nieszawka) and Ethnographic Park in Kaszczorek (Turystyczna 130, Toruń – tours possible by prior arrangement pek@etnomuzeum.pl).
The museum was founded in 1959. Its founder and first director for many years was Professor Maria Znamierowska Prűfferowa and the Museum has been named after her since 1999.

Last admission to any exhibition in the Arsenal is no later than 45 minutes before the museum closes. Last admission to the Ethnographic Park is one hour before the exhibition closes.
Ticket offices close 30 minutes before the museum closes.

At the Ethnographic Museum in Toruń and at the Olender Ethnographic Park in Wielka Nieszawka audio guides in English are available free of charge in the museum shop.
You can also hire a guide, who serves a group of up to 25 people. Tickets and a guide can be booked by phone at +48 56 622 89 91 (ext. 55). Guided tours last up to 2 hours. Prices:
- around the Ethnographic Park or the „Secrets of everyday life” exhibition: PLN 80 (Ethnographic Museum in Toruń)
- around the Ethnographic Park and the „Secrets of everyday life” exhibition: PLN 110 (Ethnographic Museum in Toruń)

On Wednesdays, admission to the museum is free.
Meeting with Polish folk culture
Recreational and educational event conducted in English. The program includes active sightseeing of selected exhibitions with learning about Polish holidays customs, old household chores and traditional art, ornamentation and folklore. What’s more, program includes workshop methods, including spreading sand patterns, folk cut-out, making tissue paper flowers or Christmas tree ornaments, decorating Easter eggs, rehearsal of playing folk instruments, learning traditional songs and basic steps of Polish dances, traditional games, plays using copies of old folk toys, learning about folk costume or taking snuff (for adults). The theme of the event is determined individually after reservation. The offer is also designed for a larger number of participants (max. 90 people).
It is possible to serve refreshments at the end of the event. Choice for the whole group: bread with lard, pickled cucumber and cereal coffee with milk or yeast and cereal coffee with milk.
Duration: 90 minutes. Ticket: 37 PLN/person | with refreshments 50 PLN/person | tutors free of charge (1 tutor per 10 participants).

Traces of polish traditions
The program offers the opportunity to learn about the realities of life of former village inhabitants – how they lived, how they worked, and how they celebrated their holidays through a visit to the museum exhibition or the Ethnographic Park. Participants will get to know eg. traditional costumes, homesteads, work tools, instruments, childhood games, and typical ornaments from the regions of Kujawy and Pomerania.
Duration: 75 minutes. Ticket: 20 PLN/person. | tutors free of charge (1 tutor per 10 participants). | Max. 30 people.

Tradition Exchange. Intercultural Picnic, June 13, 2026 (Saturday)
The event is organized on the occasion of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Day and Refugee Day in collaboration with foreigners who have connected with our region. A several-hour meeting is filled with workshops, animations, presentations, and performances showcasing musical and dance folklore, traditional handicrafts and folk inspired decoration, children’s games and culinary traditions.
In previous editions of the project, participated members of the Polish, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Armenian, Chinese, Iranian, Indonesian, Rwandan, and Ethiopian communities. The Tradition Exchange is a great opportunity to learn about Polish culture and cultures from various parts of the world.
If you are a Leader of Tradition, meaning you are interested in your own traditional culture and can share knowledge about it in an engaging way, join the team creating next year’s Tradition Exchange. Preparations start soon. We offer fee and funds for necessary materials to those who co-create the event. There is also the possibility of inviting artists who can support the implementation of the program showcasing your culture, currently living in other parts of Poland.

Willingness to participate in the project also means a commitment to attend the training and integration meeting on March 27, 2026 (Friday), from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, as well as the evaluation meeting (online participation possible) on July 24, 2026 (Friday), from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
