Obecnie w naszym muzeum czynna jest wystawa z nurtu art brut, prezentująca prace Genowefy Magiery, pensjonariuszki Domu Pomocy Społecznej w Wielkiej Nieszawce. Genowefa Magiera urodziła się 18 stycznia 1921 r. w Ligocie, w pow. wadowickim, miała ośmioro rodzeństwa. Jako mała dziewczyna wraz z rodzicami zamieszkała w Dąbrowie Chełmińskiej.
Artystka w swojej twórczości plastycznej przedstawia głównie postaci zwierząt, dlatego wystawa zatytułowana jest Zwierzęta idą do nieba.
Jej oryginalne kolaże przyciągają uwagę paletą barw, bogactwem materiału i różnorodnością formy. Pośród prac inspirowanych wspomnieniami z dzieciństwa na uwagę zasługuje zwłaszcza jeden obraz, który przedstawia Godło Polski, białego orła ukazanego na różnobarwnym tle, z przewagą koloru czerwonego. Praca ta powstała w 2009 roku, ale jej wizję artystka nosiła w sobie już długo przedtem. Na początku lat 30., kiedy Genowefa Magiera była małą dziewczynką miała sen: We śnie pojawiło się dużo czerwonego koloru. Wiem, że była to krew. Na tym tle śniła mi się moja rodzinna wieś i polski orzeł. Nad godłem krzyżowały się miecze, które tonęły we krwi. W tej onirycznej wizji ukazała się również data – 1 września 1939. Koszmar wojennej zawieruchy nie ominął rodziny pani Genowefy, jak i jej samej. Najsmutniejszą okolicznością była śmierć narzeczonego artystki, który nie powrócił z wojny.
Postać orła na obrazie Magiery wyklejona jest na kartonie z ziaren fasoli, korona zaś z kukurydzy. Symboliczna szabla powstała z ryżu, tło tworzą kolorowe kulki bibuły i muszelki. Ta wizja powtórzyła się jeszcze w dwóch innych obrazach artystki, ale nie była już tak ekspresyjna i nie oddawała już tak szczegółowo snu, jak w przypadku omawianej pracy.
Wydarzenia wojenne zachwiały w sercu pani Genowefy wiarę w ludzi. Dlatego też kiedy zaczęła realizować swoje plastyczne pasje, bohaterami swych prac czyniła zwierzęta, które są według niej dobre i szlachetne. Aktywność twórcza, która rozwinęła się zawrotnym tempie (w ciągu dwóch lat stworzyła ona około 1,5 tysiąca prac) stała się remedium na wojenne wspomnienia. Kiedy tylko pamięć artystki otwiera się na nieprzyjemne obrazy z lat czterdziestych, Pani Genowefa idzie do swojej pracowni i przenosi się w sielankowy świat rodzinnej wsi, którą zamieszkują zwierzęta.
